13 The counsel of JEHOVAH is for those who revere him; and to them he maketh known his covenant. 14 Mine eyes are ever directed to JEHOVAH, for he can conduct my feet out of the snare. 15 Regard me, and have compassion on me: for I am desolate and afflicted. 16 The sorrows of mine heart are increased; oh! bring thou me out of my distresses. 17 Draw near, and behold mine afflictions and my sufferings; and pardon all my transgressions. 18 See, how mine enemies multiply; and hate me with an outrageous hatred. 19 Preserve my life and deliver me; let me not be confounded, for I place my trust in thee. 20 Let integrity and justice protect me; for my dependance is on thee, O JEHOVAH! 21 Deliver Israel, o GOD ! from all his distresses. PSALM 1 PSALM XXVI. JUDGE my cause, O JEHOVAH! I have walked in innocence: my trust hath been in JEHOVAH; therefore, I shall not fall. 2 Examine me, O JEHOVAH! and serutinize me; search thou my reins and mine heart. 3 For thy loving-kindness hath ever been before mine eyes; and I have walked according to thy truth. 4 I have never dwelt with deceitful persons; neither have I associated with hypocrites. 5 I hate the company of the malevolent; and sit not down with the wicked. 6 I wash mine hands in innocence, when I approach thine altar, O JEHOVAH! 7 That I may make my voice to be heard in thy praise; and recount all thy wonderful works. 8 I love, O JEHOVAH! the house in which thou dwellest; and the place where thy glory resideth. 9 Join not my soul with sinners; nor my life with blood-thirsty men : N 4 10 Who 27 10 Who intend mischief; and whose right-hand is full of bribes. 11 But, as I walk in mine innocence; deliver me, and have mercy on me. 12 When my foot shall stand on even ground; I will praise JEHOVAH in the assemblies. PSALM XXVII. JEHOVAH is my light, and my salvation; whom then shall I fear ? JEHOVAH is the safe-guard of my life; whom then shall I dread? 2 When the wicked, those who persecuted me and were mine enemies, advanced to devour my flesh; they themselves stumbled and fell back. 3 Should an host of men encamp about me, yet would not mine heart be afraid; and should war be waged against me, even then would I place my trust in him. 4 One thing I desire of JEHOVAH, and this I earnestly request; that I may dwell in the house of JEHOVAH, all the days of my life, to contemplate the gracious countenance of JEHOVAH, and to search for an abidance in his sanctuary : 5 For, in the time of distress, he may hide me in his pavilion; even in his interior tabernacle he may hide me, and exait me upon an inaccessible rock. 6 Even now, he may raise mine head above all my surrounding enemies: therefore, I will offer, in his tabernacle, sacrifices of praise, I will sing and chant praises unto JEHOVAH. 7 Hearken unto my voice, O JE HOVAH! when I call; be gracious unto me, and answer me. 8 When thou saidst, -" Seck my face;" mine heart replied, -Thy countenance, O JEHOVAH! will I seek. 9 Hide not thy countenance from me; neither turn thy servant from thee in thy displeasure. 10 Thou art my refuge, abandon me not; neither forsake me, O GOD of my salvation! 11 Though my father and my mother should forsake me; nevertheless, let JEHOVAH take me up. 12 Teach me thy way, O JEHOVAH! and guide me in the right path, because of mine enemies. 13 Deliver 13 Deliver me not over to the will of mine adversaries; for false witnesses, and those who threaten violence, are risen against me. 14 I already should have fainted, had I not trusted to see the favour of JEHOVAH in the land of the living. 15 Oh! wait, therefore, for the help of JEHOVAH: be firm and courageous; and place thy trust in JEHOVAH. : PSALM XXVIII. UNTO thee, O JEHOVAH! my rock! do I call; answer thou me: lest, if thou be silent, I become like those who go down to the pit. 2 Hear my supplications, when I cry unto thee; when I raise mine hands toward thy sanctuary. 3 Oh! remove me not, neither destroy me with idolaters; with those who speak friendly with their neighbours, while mischief is in their hearts. 4 Repay such according to their works; and according to their evil dispositions: 5 Repay them according to the works of |
